Extraordinary Pens – Waterman Rose Ripple

This 1928 Waterman 994 is a lever-filler Rose Ripple. One of the rarest and most beautiful of colors! Few were made because the country was entering the depression and few high end pens were selling, the rubber turned out to be very fragile so few survived, and the same year Waterman very shortly afterwards introduced their first plastic pen, the Patrician, which was very successful. Gold-filled trim. Fine, flexible nib. Item #14 in Catalog #80

General Manufacturing Co. Snapfill #2 Lever Filler

The 1920 General Manufacturing Co. Snapfill #2 Lever Filler in black chased hard rubber is an unusual filling mechanism. When you lift the lever from the barrel, a small hinged extension drops from the lever to the press bar. Pressing the lever then depresses the bar, filling the pen. Extraordinary Pens – Pregnant Parker

This 1910 Parker Model 47 Parker was nicknamed the “Pregnant Parker” because of the bulbous design of the alternating pearl slabs. These pearl slabs are soaked until soft so they can be so shaped – no doubt a delicate and time consuming process. There is a wonderful yellow, green, and red iridescence of the pearl. Gold-filled high relief repousse floral cap and barrel bands. This pen is an eyedropper-filler, and is one of the most …

Extraordinary Pens – La Plume D’Or Bibax

This 1924 La Plume D’Or is a very special pen. The Bibax capillary-fill Taper/Cone Cap in Red Mottled Hard Rubber is extremely rare. While the barrel is a hollow hard rubber tube, it is NOT an eyedropper-filler. How on earth does this pen fill, then? There are four long slots in the back of the feed. The filling design is to put the pen, nib down, into an ink supply, and the barrel fills through the principle …
