Handwritten Post – Pen Collecting

I saw this quote and it made me think about what this could mean for me as a pen user. I’m not a collector. I definitely use all my pens, even the limited edition/expensive ones (call me crazy, but I can’t afford to collect). Also, this is one of my absolute favorite vintage flex nibs. It’s soft, and it flows so well. Hard to beat, and impossible not to love. Do you collect or do …

Handwritten Post – Not All Broads Are The Same

Oblique, stub, round… broad nibs are not always just giant nibs that can’t be written with! I suppose that depends on your handwriting, but oblique double broad nibs, or stubby double broads can be a lot of fun to write with and can make your handwriting look very interesting and fun. The amount of tipping that is often found on broader nibs often makes them very suitable for nib modification, should you wish to have …

Handwritten Post – Connecting Via Writing

Handwritten Post – Anatomy of a Nib

I remember reading about nibs when I first started learning about adjusting them. I read that I should gently squeeze the shoulders of the nib. I remember thinking, ”what on earth are the shoulders?” So, behold, my hideous nib drawing to identify the simple anatomy of a nib!

One Person’s Dream Nib…

I love this quote. I saw it while reading a fountain pen book and thought it was great, and very true. I don’t know what my dream nib is, because I like too many – sometimes I like really broad, crisp nibs, and sometimes I like fine, flexible nibs. I want them all! Do you have a dream nib?

Handwritten Post – Music Nib Notes

One of my favorite kinds of nibs: the music nib. I think they look great, they write so wonderfully, and that flex…! I know. It’s supposed to be for music nibs. One can do nifty things with an object, even if it is isn’t the intended use of that object, right?

Handwritten Post – Do You Write?

There are so many reasons to use fountain pens over ballpoint pens, isn’t there? For me, it feels more mindful because I have to pick the pen, nib, and ink, then the paper. Do you write?

Handwritten Post – Pen Or Ink?

What’s more important to you? Which do you prefer? I used to love pens more in my collecting days – the days where I would explore pens – because I would buy just about any pen. When I realized what kinds of pens I liked, it was easier to acquire inks. Now, it’s all about the nib for me. I like special, unique nibs, and nibs that blow me away.
