    Hello.
What are these pen trays made out of? Is it foam or plastic or what is the material under the velvety felt?
    Thanks,
    Jules

Hi Jules, the slotted trays are made from flocked polyethylene (plastic) sheet. Thanks for asking. Gary

Thanks for the information, Gary. I would need to cut these down to fit in my display case. When you cut the plastic does it result in jagged edges?

Hi Jules, many hundreds of folks have cut these to size for their display cabinets, storage chests, map cabinets, cigar boxes, etc., They cut easily with a scissors, Xacto knife or paper cutter, with no jagged edges at all. I recommend drawing a line on the back for your eye to follow while cutting. Very best, Gary

Good morning, I would like to know if the polyethylene could affect, by being in contact with the pens, vintage pens made of celluloid or hard rubber thus deforming them or turning them matte. Thank you. Marco

Hello Marco, we selected flocked polyethylene because we were told it was completely inert (safe). In the 20+ years we have been selling and using these trays we have never had anyone report even the slightest effect on a pen. We believe they do no harm to any of the materials of construction historically used by pen manufacturers. I hope this is helpful. Gary

Hi Gary, I bought 5 tray inserts back in April. After measuring and cutting, they work great in my wood pen cabinet. Just want to say “Thanks”.

Would these trays work for standard size pencils or would they be too large? I’m looking to use them in drawers to hold multiple sets of colored pencils.

If you want the entire chest of drawers it would be $1000 and you would need to come and get it or arrange for your trucker to pick it up. Gary
